Hey Randy
I'm thinking about heading up to Buchanan next weekend. Want to come up, I'll have my dredge going so you wont need to drag yours. I pulled my back just before the labor day weekend and couldn't make it.

A friend and I have been trying to decide whether we were heading to Buchanan or AL gold camp. Which do you think we'll find better gold at? We will be at one of those next weekend. Is there a park or any good camping in Buchanan?

Digi,
Never been in Alabama, so I can't say..........but I have heard they do have gold there.
Buchanan has fine gold. Haven't found a picker or larger yet. GPAA members can camp at the small camp area there at Buchanan o the creek. They have 2 port-a-pities and a fire ring.
I'd say they are probably about the same in that western area of the Dahlonega gold belt...

Buchanan has some fine gold if you hit the right spot. I've even seen a picker or 2 if you find some hardpack. AGC is about the same.
The camping and prospecting is free at Buchanan if you're a GPAA member. At AGC it will cost you $5 per night to camp and $5 per day to pan or sluice. Dredging costs more.
