Have any of you ever tried this place? Did you do any good? I am planning on going there the weekend of sept.6and7 If any of you want to come let me know I am taking my son and his new wife. She is expecting so I want a place that will be easy for her to get around. She has never been before so I want her to get that gold fever see u soon garry

I've been there a couple of times. The gold was fair but check the rocks, there are a lot of gemstones in their bags and buckets. The people there are extremely friendly and helpful.
I'm sure you know that the LDMA claim is just up the road from there. On the same creek even.

You going for gold or gems? If you are going for gold, they won't let you dig in the creek. They have a big pile of dirt up above the creek and you get your material from there. You can sluice or pan. Your equipment or rent theirs. Classify to 1/4th and look in your classifier for gems. They salt that pile cause a lot of the stuff you get ain't from around there. My wife and I suspect that they screen it before they put it down there. JMHO. The people are great though.

well we had a great time there we were the only ones at the campsight. sure was quiet and peacefull We got a sluice and ran part of the pile of dirt that they had there.we did not find and gold but we got a lot of gems there were several small rubbies that are big enough to cut out some small stones. But the best find of all was a large emerald that they said they were sure it would cut out 10 to 12 cts. worth around $10,000 to 12,000 what a find. I have some pictures i will try to post. I am looking for some one to cut the emerald they wanted around $800. to cut it . I think i can get it cut cheeper than that. if you know of anyone to cut it let me know. THANKS garry

Look, I don't want to rain on your parade or seem like I'm flaming them but these are the same people that told me they could melt all the small pieces of peridot that my wife and I found there into a large stone that could be cut. No other gem cutter that I have had contact with knows anything about this. If you really want to have an emerald cut that could be in that price range, you are going to have to pay that kind of price. If you want a second opinion and a comparative price to cut, take it to Jerry Call in Spruce Pines, NC. He has cut emeralds for Elizabeth taylor. Since you are a prospector, there is Mountain Lapidary which is located at Lucky Strike South of Marion NC. They do not charge by the carat of the stone. They just have one charge per stone. We are having some cut there for $35 per stone. Lucky Strike has camping facilities too. Lucky Strike is in between Heather Grove and Thermal City. The Vein Mountain site is in there somewhere too. Thermal City has campsites and hookups too. Sorry about the gold. We didn't get any either.
