Tom, Guess I'm spoiled. Out here there are way too many places to go for free. Even if its claimed, most times if you ask to work the banks the claim holder will allow it. Fact is, I've yet to be turned down, but there may be some who won't want anybody there.
If you are very limited in places to go, then I guess its alright. We do have some pay to play places here also, but that is for dredging and they are few and far between. I don't have money to throw away and that seems to me to be a good way to do it. Even the 24kt club in az at rich hill only charges $350 A YEAR and Elly has a bulldozer clearing off areas every week. Strictly a detecting/dry washing area. She told me she plans on trying to figure a way to flood one of the washes so small dredges can be operated there.

socalgold, This is why the East Coast Guys and Gals, are getting fed up with no help from the groups and organizations that say they are going to "help us" back East... We have been fighting and getting no help from anyone!!! I don't mean for this to sound like a "hit" on the groups and organizations, but if they would stop and take a look at what is going on in the East and at least TRY and do something to help, I am sure they would get more support... Yep, a lot of guys have to go to the Pay to Play places just to have a place to go at all!!!

This is so true twig, thats why my buddy and I want to get our club together here in Ohio the gpaa has 3 claims here in the state all of which have very little to offer in the way of gold don't get me wrong gold is there but we have found that the better gold is well other places we have also found that a lot of farmers and land owners would be happy to lease you some creek space to prospect on if you respect their land. when this was brought to the attention of the boys in Temecula they just laughed it off they are more concerned with the alaska trip than eastern properties in fact when I brought it up on their forum I was banned! and I was a paying member of that club I do support the plp and other groups that are trying to make a difference but feel we are getting forgotten about out here and would like to see a little more like the deal in Indiana thats just a little too close to home.
