Well I had a chance to play with my new coil for my M-6... I traded one of my 6x10 for a super 12" and al I can say is "I really like it!!" First thing, it didn't seem any heavier than the stock 9.5 coil after I swung it for a few hours.. As far as depth goes it exceeds the stock coil on half dollar(12" correct VDI and ID) and $1 (13.5-14" correct VDI and ID) by 2" or more on the half and 3" on the $1 according to my air tests.. Did not notice any increase with penny - dime range but nickles had about a 1/2-1" increase.. After the 7" of snow last week it warmed up some and then rained.. The ground wasn't frozen to badly so, "I thought dig while you can!!" Some spots were frozen to about 3" and some not at all.. I do realize that some won't like this coil in the trashed sites since there are so many targets under the coil at one time..I don't have a problem with it as I swing very slowly when in a multi-target area.. When a good signal is heard make very small swings over it and pull the trigger on the pinpointer so it locks on that signal.. Pinpoints in the middle , right in front of the cross bar.. No problems with pinpointing at all... I was digging all signals above 0 on the VDI so I was digging trash, and found the discrimination and depth was as accurate as the stock coil...Found a few pennies under 6" and two wheaties at 7" and 8.5".. I always measure my deeper finds for reference and carefully dig so I don't knock the target out of the side wall (I don't have a problem pinpointing so I don't usually find the targets in the side walls) and into the bottom so I can say like some "IT WAS AT 17"!!!" Well on larger targets it will go deep but the discrim won't be accurate just like all detectors at the fringe of a signal.. Dug a 3" triangle of steel at a measured 14" which was to me, confirmation if theres a dollar under 14" it will be detected!! I was on my way back across the churchyard and the M-6 shouted a nickle at 7".. Well, I was beat but I figured I'd dig it.. at 7.5" I found something .. I wasn't to impressed as it was so light but after I cleaned it this is what I found.. A Watseka dairy token and when I asked on a detecting site the reply was..
" It's listed in Ore H. Vacketta's Trade Tokens of Illinois (1983). Rated R-6, "Extremely Rare, 1-5 known." If you have a Whites M-6, MXT, or a DFX you really will like this coil !!

Cosmic,
Can you post a picture of your new coil here on the Forum?
I have a MXT and love it, would like to learn more about this larger coil....
How much good used, like on eBay or from a dealer? Who makes it?
Thanks!
Randy

Kellyco has it listed at $249.95, with a sale price of $219.95. Probably could beat that price at one of the gold shows.

Don't think so Gascan. At the shows for the most part, everything is list price, with a few come ons at reduced price. If it is popular, then it will probably be list price. Always, if you plan on buying at any show, go the last day. The sellers are more likely to strike a deal the closer it is to time to pack up and go home. If you offer anywhere near even their cost in it, they will usaully selll it to keep from taking it back. I do the gold shows and watch this happen at everyone.
