Nugget Shooting in SC, NC
Reply Quote
I'm new and studying this whole prospecting thing and plotting my direction. I am very interested in nugget shooting in these two states, but I'm not seeing much on the boards about it in these two states. I can always go out west. Lots of dredging, sluicing, panning, etc. in our area. Anyone actually finding nuggets in SC, NC with detectors? Thinking about buying a good detector, but it should at least pay for itself. A little help here is appreciated

sigsigamore, Good luck!!! From what I hear, in the East the detectors don't seem to be the way to go... I think most people use them to narrow down place to look... You have to remember, most of the gold will go through a window screen!!! So unless it is in a pocket, it is hard to locate... I am sure it could be done, but it would require a lot of work and really getting to know your detector... There is also a large amout of "hot rocks" that will drive even the best detector crazy!!!

Heck we don't shoot nuggets up here they are to hard to find! LOL  I don't know any public place you can go detecting . Make sure you stay out of the Uwharrie NF with your detector that is a big no no and if you get caught it will cost you lots of cash!

Metal detectors around here find mostly modern jewelry and war relics.... and junk. I will use mine to find a mineral streak sometimes.... but I usually have better luck with devining rods!!
I've been doin' so much, with with so little, for so long.... I can do almost anything, with nothing!!!!
