Hey Twig,

That find totally caught me off guard! My mind is usually focused on color, specimen pieces, gems, and such when classifying. I was "walking on air" for quite a while, showing it to the rest of the group on the creek that day. :-)

Those are just some photo's of a few of my gold gitter snake critters a grubbin for gold. I sent them up on a mission. Y'all shoulda seen the pickers they brought back to me. Looks like I got them trained real good. As you can see by the photo's, they go right into the sluice just like I trained them to do. Too bad they kilt one of my pet gold grubbin' gitter critters.  Y'all oughta be ashamed.

I was helpin a couple of newbies get on a good gold spot when i see this orange hat bounce and flash above the tree line. I thought I was seeing things but, boing there it went again. About every 10 feet an orange hat would bounce about 20 feet in the air above the treeline. Shore enough Hawk comes bouncin down the trail holdin this arrowhead. It was a real nice find.

Here's a link to Hawk's photo http://forum.goldgrubbin.com/forum/photos/members_recent_prospecting_trips/picture25680.aspx

BTW, Mr. Herschel, all of your gold gittin critters were unharmed. I love snakes and won't let anyone kill em around me. I didn't realize you liked them too. I'll be sure to catch em next time and I'll put All them in a box and send em to ya.

Geez Herschel....looks like you got a monopoly on them gold glitter snake critters.....even the rubber ones!

I'm not sure if ole' Tinpan has any Cajun blood, but I will say he's got that instigatin' stuff covered here in Virginny pretty good. You can sleep well at night knowing he's out there keeping people on their toes when he's poking around.

.....and the guy takes great pics on the outings. :-)

Geeked [8-|] Where is this? Re: Prospecting at the Johnson goldmine in Virginia 5-17-2007 to 5-20-2007

Tinpan,

Where is this location? Any info you can share so I can MapQuest it? I am moving to Rhode Island soon, and wondered how far away this location was...

Nice kick off event! Lots of folks sluicing & panning and having fun...that's how it should be.

Hi C-17A

We have a few folks that come down from upstate NY. Woodchuck makes regular raids and JSGoldNY does occasionaly.

You can google Goldvein, VA for this claim and Dillwyn VA for the other 7 claims.Trust me, Dillwyn is worth an extra 2 hour drive. I live in Goldvein and travel to Dillwyn weekly.

If you are interested in visiting let me know and I'll show you around.
