platdigger, This is my opinion... I think the system will recover gold as claimed... I don't have enough information on the cost of chemicals to know how "cost efficient" the system is or how much can be processed per run. Also the unit is not produced by Angus McKirk, but by another company/group. You could probably get more information from them about the cost to run it and such, that way you would get their information.... AND be able to decide for yourself....

Yea, I have been in touch with them lately. It is just that the ones selling the equipment are not the chemists. She is in AZ. I will see if I can talk with her.

Snake Oil:  I should think that all of you grubbers would stay with that which works.  Balance the checkbook - have fun !   Too may methods out there for me.  I like stuff that works.  Like Randy said a while back.  "Wow ! I've got plats !"  Way to go.

I don't know, but there seems to be too many steps in the process.  Too much time involved.

   Oh, well,   Peace,   UMI

Russ,  The Colorado School of Mines  ( Prof.  Blooms' group ) back in the sixties came up with a lot of info in this regard in their Geo-Chem studies.  Geo-Chem is really fascinataing, but the lengthy testing and layout of a suspected ore body is really time consuming.

A lady bio-chem scientist in the same time frame at the school came up with a lot of info in this regard.

Jusr a few thoughts for you.  Keep pickin' and lookin' Peace, UMI

I have to agree wtih your previous post UMI. There are just too many tried and true methods that work really well, from leaching, gravity recovery to pyro, to waste money on the new-fangled expensive products.

I've seen 3 leaching methods that work extremely well and at least 4 that are either too expensive, too hard for the small guy to get the chemicals, too dangerous for newbies, or just don't work as advertised.

The more I look at the device, the more I think the air agitation is for a cyanide or alkalaine chlorine leachant. These require added air to be truley effective, if what I have read is correct. Please correct me if I'm wrong. The next problem I see is the plastic work trays. If what I have seen is correct, ionic gold will stick or bond to the plastic if there is static electricity. That would be a severe problem for potential losses. As before, please correct me if I am wrong.

Glassware is cheap, standard chemicals are routinely available, so a good setup is extremely doable. All that is really needed is the person doing the job to pay attention to fume and waste management. Even there, the info is out there if people would look. Even the waste could bring in extra needed cash. I don't see any of that with the Chem-Gold system.

Just my 2 cents. If you need change, just ask.

Chuck

Chuck,  You seem to have all of it together.  A suggestion, like when we were kids, dry a plastic pan VERY DRY with a hairdryer and then run a piece of sheepswool by it and then touch it.  If the sparks fly, your supposition is on the money.  If not, then go from there.  Try a couple of educational websites in regard to static juice and there might be something sbout negating the positive static.

I'll let you know if I have found something on the bent.  UMI

Amen folks. Let's quit beating up on one another. There are enough greenies out there that need to be thrown in the briar patch.

Hi Guys,

Just found this and thought I'd pass it on.

HI, ONE OF THE BEST WAY TO REMOVE GOLD FROM SOLID PLATED ARTICLES IS TO MAKE THE PIECE ANODE AND USE STAINLESS STEEL AS CATHODE IN THE VERY CONCENTRATED SULFURIC ACID AND THE VOLTAGE HAS TO BE BETWEEN 7.5 VOLTS TO 12 VOLTS. GOLD IS NOT SOLUBLE IN SULFURIC ACID BUT AS SOON AS THE VOLTAGE IS APPLIED THE ACID SURROUNDING THE ANODE TURNS INTO PERSULFURIC ACID IN WHICH GOLD IS SOLUBLE.AS SOON AS THE ION GOES INTO SOLUTION IT AGAIN BECOMES SULFURIC ACID AND GOLD FALLS TO THE BOTTOM.AS SOON AS THE GOLD IS DISSOLVED YOU WILL NOTICE A SHARP DECREASE IN CURRENT BECAUSE AN OXIDE FILM IS FORMED ON BASE METAL.THIS IS THE TIME TO TAKE OUT THE ARTICLE.I HOPE THIS WILL HELP.

SINCERELY,
