09-27-2006, 12:36 AM FridgidNorth Joined on 09-27-2006 Posts 1 taking the kids out I took my kids out on their first gold prospecting trip here in Alaska down on the Kenai Peninsula. Wouldn't you know they had beginner's luck! I showed my daughter who is 8 how to snipe bedrock cracks and while she was doing this, I showed my son who is 10 how to dig around and under the big boulders. After a leisurely day we had classified <1/4" down and took home 15 lbs of concentrates to pan out. Altogether they found 4.8 grams of gold include a few nice pickers. Considering the fairly small effort, it was a fantastic find - and yep, now they have the gold bug too. Now we just have to wait several months until the snow melts.    Report
