I was able to get my hands on a Keene green concentrate bowl but I have no instructions, would anyone know where to get some? What size pump will it use, I have a pretty good sized 12v pump but I dont know about how fast it needs to flow. Also how far down do I need to classify before it ok to use? thanks

there are several sites that carry "blue bowl" instructions. Pionner mining has them.the instructions are pretty much the same.the pump i use on my"blue bowl" is a 750 GPH bilge pump from walmart. and i need to throttel it down. i screen ALL my cons down to 100 mesh and i run each screening seperatly to take advantage of its specific gravity. all of my gold is real fine that i run throught this bowl.the nuggets would be picked out earlier!! John Hoser has a tip that helps, remove the valve off the bowl from its current location and move it back away from the bowl to prevent any water disturbance in the bowl.for each mesh size from the directions you need to keep the water level in the bowl at this depth. good luck

As russ stated classify!!! Then bring the water level up until the waste moves up the cone.. The finer the material the lower you run the water level.. Heres what I did to mine..

thats where I found mine. The weird thing is that when I was on ebay there was nothing listed under Keene green bowls. I went to yahoo and did a search and found it that way It is not stamped with Keene name but it is the same one that I used over a year ago when I was out. Once the gent showed me how it worked I was hooked. The gent bought it from Lloyd at Thermal City and I know he bought a bunch from Keene when they quit making them.

You are one lucky guy. Word is that the mold cracked and instead of spending ten grand for another one, Keene just decided it was not worth the investment. The 750 gpm pump is good flow for the bowl. Make sure your bucket is level and adjust the flow till it swirls 1 inch from the lip. this will draw most of the black sands out of the bowl leaving clean gold. I wish Keene would
offer it again, they really had a winner.

I actually spoke to a gent last year about this very thing. I had no bowl to show him but now I have one I am going to see what the cost truly is. I had heard that 10k was what a new mold would cost but if it can be vacuum formed the cost would be considerably less.

i beleive Keenes mold was for injection molding. i also think that if youd use heavy enough plastic that vacumn forming would work!

Everyone, be watchful about bidding on the "Green Bowls" there is a new one on the market that is green in color, but is made the same as the blue bowl... No riffles in the bottom!!!

its my understanding that Keene made two styles of green bowls. the first one w/o riffels(supposedly the best one) and the other had riffels, and is said tobe not as good.i dont know which is best on the Keene bowls, but i heard from Lloyd that the green bowl is better than the blue bowl.

I have only see the green bowl with the riffles and it worked great. I have heard others say the blue is almost as good. I guess when used properly they both seem to do the trick

Those so called riffles in the original green bowl were actually the result of the injection molding process. Along with the riffles there were one or two indentations that also caught gold. It was a design to help release the bowl from the mold but turned out to make the bowl work better.

Got the July/August issue of Gold Prospectors magazine today, and there is a test of the "new" blue bowl by Jim Klein. He gives it high marks, and also the new owner of the bowl, Frank Sullivan of Pioneer Mining Supplies. www.pioneermining.com

Heres the story on the original mold as I heard it. If you are interested in my source pm me.
Those of you that have them or have seen them know that the water inlet "pipe" was epoxied to the bowl vs being molded in. They were sold with a hose. Folks would carry/handle the bowl by using the pipe and wha-la, the pipes would break off. Keene got complaints. Keene being a reputable company took care of their customers complaints. The only permanent fix was purchasing a new mold. New molds are costly and they'd have to sell a heckuva lot of the bowls to offset the cost. Probably not a huge profit margin on something like a green bowl, so why invest in the mold when you know it might take several bowl sales and several years before breaking even let alone making a profit? Keene made a sound business decision and stopped manufacturing the bowls.
By the way.....I have TWO of them and NO.....I won't part with either of them!

and to answer the original question, I use a tiny 400 gpm pump with a flow control valve and its plenty of flow to make the bowl function properly. I run the water level roughly 3/4 inch from the top for all classifications and it works well.....just be patient and classify, classify, classify
